The individual collagen types have been labelled with Roman numerals in the order that they were discovered. Till date, there are 28 types are known, which are grouped according to structural differences as they appear in the body.
The most commonly found types are I and II, which are the main structural collagen found in the body. Type I makes up 90% of the body's total collagen whereas Type II are predominantly found in hyaline cartilage.
The collagen used in Duplex® Max-Joint Plus
The BioCell Collagen® - It is a naturally occurring matrix of Hydrolysed Collagen Type II, Chondroitin Sulfate and Hyaluronic Acid, all of which contribute to the maintenance of healthy joint cartilage and synovial fluid. It is extracted using a patented hydrolysis process which optimizes its molecular size for fast and effective absorption. Clinical studies have shown that BioCell Collagen® effectively improves joint mobility and reduces joint pain in osteoarthritis patients. It also helps to attenuate exercise-induced muscle tissue damage. Duplex Max Joint Plus is one of the best supplements for joint pain and supplements in the market right now.
Chondrocyte, which is the only cell type found in articular cartilage, plays a pivotal role in synthesizing and maintaining the cartilaginous matrix (mainly made up of collagen type II and proteoglycans). Studies have shown that the hydrolysed collagen type II in BioCell Collagen® stimulates chondrocytes to synthesize new collagen which may in turn helps to rebuild degraded cartilage.
Highly Bioavailable Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is primarily responsible for the lubricating and shock-absorbing effects of the synovial fluid. A recent study has shown that consumption of BioCell Collagen II® led to an increase in blood hyaluronic acid concentration by 60 times. As hyaluronic acid degradation is often implicated in joint deterioration, this ingredient helps to maintain healthy joint structure by replenishing lost hyaluronic acid.
